Sustainability

Our Mission is to create sustainable activewear that fit like a cloud on the conscience and the body so you can move guilt free.

In every step of our supply chain, we take care of the planet and the people on it so that the future can still breathe, live and exist.  We do not compromise the quality and performance of our items in our designs, but rather we optimize for performance while being sustainable from A to Z.

We choose not to define sustainability the way it pleases us but to act on every aspect of it. This is why, our activewear are sustainable in materials, in production and ethical all through our supply chain.

Sustainable in Materials

Our fabrics are made from recycled material: no room for virgin materials that would harm the environment. Our pieces are currently created from two types of recycled materials: recycled polyester and recycled nylon.

Recycled Polyester

Our collection includes activewear made of OEKO-Tex certified recycled polyester also known as RPET. It is an innovative, versatile fabric created by breaking down post-consumer plastics instead of getting dumped in the ocean. Then these used plastics are chopped into small ships then transformed into yarn and then spun into a breathable, durable and soft fabrics.

Every pair of leggings saves, on average, 25 post-consumer plastic bottles from being thrown in the ocean or landfills and every sports bra saves 5-10 plastic bottles.

Recycled polyester compared to virgin polyester reduces energy consumption by over 45%, water consumption by nearly 20% and reduces greenhouse gas emissions by over 30%.

Wearing sportswear made from recycled polyester let us move guilt free; knowing that the fashion industry is the second most polluting industry which is one of the major factors that lead us to climate change.

Recycled Nylon

Nylon is another type of recycled fabric that we use at Reborn Athletes; it is made by recycling fishnets, carpets flooring and fabrics scraps from factory industries. Every 10,000 tons of waste recycled, are able to save 70,000 barrels of oil and we can avoid equivalent of 65,100 tons of CO2 emissions. In addition, it reduces the global warming impact up to 90% compared to alternative virgin materials from oil.

Nylon represents 10% of the ocean debris and 600,000 tons of fishing nets are dumped into the ocean every year. The lifecycle of polyamide save waste from being dumped in the oceans and landfills; it is recycling process requires much less water, energy and fossil fuel.

Sustainable Production

Recycling saves resources and avoids unnecessary use of water and energy that could’ve been exhausted with virgin materials. Well that is amazing!

But what if we told you that this is not enough? Sustainability should not just be defined by sustainable materials but also combined with sustainable production.

The production processes can have huge impact on the environment sometimes even bigger than the material itself.

We work with sustainable certified suppliers to source our fabrics. They operate mostly on solar panels. Hence, one pair of leggings saves an additional 8 kg of CO2 emissions which is even more than what is saved from the use of recycled materials.

Another important aspect of our fabrics is the dyeing technology adopted; it consumed the lowest possible energy and water levels because it eliminates the need for water heating pre-dyeing. On average, 12 liters of water are saved per pair of leggings due to the sustainable dyeing technology adopted. But that is not all, it also requires no salt addition and no chemicals making the wastewater generated easier to be treated.

That’s not all, a decentralized wastewater treatment system that allow to safely discharge the collected water from the factory into open water bodies knowing that the industrial factories are one of the most pollutants industries of water. In addition, to air filtration system to decontaminate the air before emission back to the environment.

Ethical and Transparent

We only work with suppliers who can prove their sustainability by being certified and transparent about it: so that we can be transparent with you!

Our suppliers hold certifications offered by international organization for the sustainability of fabrics and production: Global Recycled Standards, OEKO-TEX Standard 100, GOTS, ZERO DISCHARGE of hazardous chemicals, carbon management, energy management, environmental management and many more.

In addition, to a list of sustainable development actions:

SDG 5: Gender equality by working on empowering women, nursery support, supporting their women employee’s university students for business life and many more.

SDG8: Decent work and economic growth through the Back-to-school project by supporting their employees that did not completed their education, scholarships programs for their employees’ children…

SDG 12: Responsible consumption and production by running on solar panels, wastewater treatment plant, sorting their company waste and they created a forest for their company to compensate for the CO2 emissions resulting from their production.

To put it in a nutshell, here are major sustainability certifications of our Reborn fabrics:

Climate Compensated Shipping

All CO2 emitted during the shipping process of your shipments from our factory until it reaches your location is fully accounted for and compensated. We will donate to planting trees to compensate for the CO2 emissions caused by every shipment.

Reborn collaborates with reputable environmental organizations who will take care of this important process by calculating the exact impact and planting trees to close the loop.  .

To put it in a nutshell, we aim at closing the loop and creating a fully sustainable and ethical piece so you can move guilt-free with every aspect of the word there is.
